Sheila Majid is Malaysia’s singer sweetheart, winning hearts with her debut album Dimensi Baru in 1985, she’s dubbed as the Queen of Jazz in Malaysia.

In a recent interview with Astro Awani, Majid expressed her concern and opinion of the current state of the Malaysian music industry, stating (in bahasa Malaysia) that the masses need to be aware of the importance of the longevity of a musician’s career, saying we cannot say we love an artiste but download their music illegally and demand free concerts.

Respect and support from fans is needed in order for musicians to continue their career and create better music.

What do you think about the Queen of Jazz’s take on the industry? You can read the full report here on Astro Awani’s website.
